REVIEW: CLARISONIC

Lately, I've been super obsessed with skincare. I'm realizing that my skin is starting to age and I want to start taking amazing care of it now so I don't pay as much of a price later. It's something that should be a priority for everyone—you only get one chance with the skin you're given. Protecting your skin and making sure it's clean and cared for is super important, so having the right tools is crucial. Last week, I finally got a Clarisonic. I've been hearing friends and coworkers sing its praises but couldn't bring myself to make the big purchase. Finally, I decided it was worth it, and I'm so glad I did—I can already tell a major difference.

If you're unfamiliar with the Clarisonic, here's a little background info. It's a battery-powered face brush. There are a few different sizes and types. I got the Mia2, which is more compact than the original and has two brush speeds. You can use the face wash that Clarisonic uses, or just use your own (non-exfoliating). I've been using my standard Philosophy Purity all-in-one cleanser and use the brush every morning when I wake up and every evening before I go to bed.

There are two major reasons to use a Clarisonic, no matter the model you choose: one, using just your hands to wash your face isn't effective. You're just washing the surface and not getting deep into pores. Two, washcloths aren't a viable option either. They're a breeding ground for bacteria (YUCK) and too rough on the face.

If you're an exfoliating freak like me, you might want to slow down. I used to use an exfoliating face wash every day, and didn't understand why my skin would freak out more often than not. Exfoliating should only happen 2-3 times per week. The Clarisonic helps to feel like you're actually doing something for your skin, even on non-exfoliating days.

It's crazy how much the look of my skin has improved since using the Clarisonic—it's brighter, softer, and has a much more even pigmentation. I haven't experienced any discomfort or irritation from using the brush.

The Clarisonic comes with a carrying case, charger, and sample face wash. Always let it air dry after you use it so water doesn't just sit on the brush head all day/night.

Have you tried the Clarisonic? What did you think?
